Just a note to the people who have now seen episodes 1 and 2 to say…

…you know how cool it was to see all that stuff and be surprised and delighted?

Please do your best to keep it to yourself for another 9 days. So that other people can be happy and surprised in the same way that you were.

  • Hello Mr. Gaiman,

So SAG-AFTRA posted an article in Variety and in response to the question: “Can I do Cosplay?” They basically said if you’re non-union that you can, but if you are Union you can’t. However, I came across a post on Instagram from Bryan Patrick Stoyle who is a SAG-AFTRA member who is saying that if you’re Union, want to join the Union at any point, or stand in solidarity with SAG-AFTRA in general you shouldn’t cosplay any struck content. As a young (like still in school young) artistic person who loves acting, writing, and creative things in general I don’t want to make myself ineligible for these unions in the future but it seems like everyone is saying a lot of different things, are you able to help clarify at all?

Secondly, if it is true that we can’t cosplay struck content altogether, would Doctor Who be considered part of that? I know it’s a British tv show run by a British company but I feel like I should still check.

Thank you for your time, and sorry for the long ask.

Unless SAG-AFTRA actually put up on their official website that if someone who is not part of SAG cosplays as something that’s part of a struck company they will forever be denied SAG membership (something that seems unlikely to the point of impossibility) I will regard all of this as people getting overexcited and trying to make a point.

SAG-AFTRA rules apply to SAG-AFTRA members.

Doctor Who has been bought/invested in by Disney which is a struck company. But until now it’s been made by the BBC which is not a struck company.

    Oh good grief.

    Look.

    The rules are simple.

Are you trying to get a job as an actor with a studio?

    No?

    You’re not a scab.

Are you writing a script for a studio?

    No?

    You’re not a scab.

Watch your favorite shows. Do your cosplay. Listen to your favorite podcasts. Watch Critical Role. Stream things on Netflix and Hulu and Amazon Prime and Disney+. Those things are not crossing picket lines.

But if you take a job as an actor or writer, you are absolutely crossing the picket lines. I say this as a member of SAG-Aftra, and as a member of IATSE, Local B-192, in full solidarity with the strikers. My brother is a screenwriter! He’s been picketing in front of Universal for weeks now!

I still go to my job in the theme park! I’m not crossing that picket line, because my job as a tour guide at USH is not a part of the WGA and SAG-Aftra strike, because ain’t nobody making movies in the theme park.

HOWEVER. IATSE local B-192 has been working without a contract since February. If my union called for a strike tomorrow?

You bet your ass I’d be picketing at the bottom of Lankershim, and trying to keep everybody out of the theme park.

Some fanfic authors, you find one work and binge their entire collection immediately.

Other fanfic authors, you find one work and have to microdose on the rest of their collection because you know you can never experience their works for the first time again.

    Both of these are adoration.

I really think that it’s important to remember @staff are trying to phase out custom blogs! Literally the most fun and interesting part of Tumblr and a very awesome selling point of Tumblr’s entire model.

That’s part of their whole ‘Tumblr’s not easy to use’ bullshit. They’ve been working at it for months now, you can’t even access someone’s custom blog from mobile anymore and like not even on the mobile website.

So yeah that theme and those pages you worked so hard to make unique and interesting? The webcomic hosted on Tumblr in such a way that it basically has it’s own website? The ARCHIVE of your blog that you can pretty much only access from a button on your custom blog? It’ll all go down the gutter if we don’t yell until our voices go hoarse.

This is a BLOGGING website the point of the website is THE BLOGS! I didn’t work hard to maintain my blog and keep the pages on it looking pretty for some hack at RND to decide it needs to go to make way for their ‘definitely not-Twitter’ ideal website. I swear to god the loss of our custom blogs will be the exact last straw for me and I WILL leave.

As a lesbian, it’s happened twice already that one “guy” stands out to me and I think “huh maybe they’re kinda cute and interesting, I wanna get to know them” and then I get to know them better and it’s a closeted trans girl who I somehow sniffed with my little nonbinary lesbian nose

IT JUST HAPPENED FOR A THIRD TIME!!!!

You guys will never believe what just happened to me

What does it mean if every “man” I’ve been attracted to was actually a trans woman? Idk what this says about my sexual orientation but it does mean I have astounding egg-dar

    image

Gays being able to detect trans people of our preferred gender and being able to feel preemptive attraction to them is a phenomenon I was not aware extended to people beyond me

It gets even better, because he was doing all of this on a pitch black night. This dude swam towards a lure, slapped at it with his glove, and when it got caught; he let himself float and tugged on the line so the fisherman thought he had hooked a 100+ pound salmon. Once he was finally up to the shore, he turned a flashlight on in the guy’s face and walked out of the water, saying “good morning, gentlemen. State fish and game warden, you’re under arrest.“

At this point, the guy who had reeled him in had literally fallen over in shock, and the other people with him were scared shitless. The warden whipped some citations out of a plastic bag in his wetsuit, made the trespassers sign them, asked if they had any questions, and then gathered all of their fishing gear. And he just. Walked back into the river. And quietly swam away, without another word.

    This man is a legend.
